Quinn Hamilton - Ludington Lakestride Half Marathon 2025

Erin Ambrose / 2025 NEC Awareness Month

I’m running a half marathon to raise awareness for Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC) in honor of my 6-year-old niece, a brave survivor. My goal is to shine a light on this devastating condition and support hope, research, and healing for affected families. Every mile I run honors the strength of NEC warriors and the hope for a healthier future for all vulnerable newborns.

With love from an old friend, Terri (Daniels) Gaskey. Kelly and I were friends when we were about the age of your little girl. All little girls (and boys) deserve to have old friends! 🩷

About Quinn Hamilton - Ludington Lakestride Half Marathon 2025

When my twin nieces were born prematurely, we knew their path would come with challenges — but nothing prepared us for Baby A’s diagnosis of NEC, or Necrotizing Enterocolitis. While in the NICU, she faced a serious illness that required incredible strength and care. Thanks to the dedication of her medical team, her parents and family, as well as her own resilience, Baby A pulled through and is now a vibrant 6-year-old. We’re endlessly grateful for her recovery, but the effects of NEC are lasting, and her journey continues. Her strength inspires us every day, and we’re committed to raising awareness and supporting research so that other families can face a future with better outcomes — and, one day, a cure. Every baby deserves that chance.
