About Courageous Cash

Our son, Cash Owen Finegan, was born 12 weeks too soon on December 19,2019. During the next couple weeks as a family, we experienced the typical NICU roller coaster with many highs and many lows but after surviving his first diagnosis of NEC, a devastating intestinal infection that mainly plagues premature infants, Cash proved he was a fighter. Cash's original due date was slowly approaching, so we were hopeful to bring him home soon. He was breathing on his own, passing his hearing and eye exams and he was learning how to eat without a feeding tube. His weight gain was slow but every ounce counted. Unfortunately, in the very early morning of February 25,2020 he was tragically diagnosed with NEC Totalis which led to bedside surgery. A few hours later Cash passed away peacefully in our arms. Cash spent 68 days courageously fighting for his life and even though his fight might be over, our fight as his parents will continue.
