About In Honor of Grace Rose Broughton

Our daughter was born early at 28 weeks and 1 day while we were on vacation for Labor Day. She spent nearly 6 weeks in Austin growing and hitting all her milestones, bringing joy to her family and the NICU. She had gained 2 lbs since birth, was breathing on her own in an open crib and only needed to learn to eat in order to come home. She touched the lives of many people in her short but impactful life. She passed away on October 13, 2023 one day shy of being 6 weeks old and less than 24 hours after being transferred to Houston. She developed NEC after arriving in Houston and the disease progressed rapidly over night. She could not recover from the surgery that removed most of her small intestine and passed in the afternoon with her family by her side. We know she is safe and without pain in Heaven and will miss her terribly until we are all reunited in Heaven again with our Lord and Savior.
