About LivlifetotheMax NEC Awareness Ride and Raffle

May is NEC awareness month and we will be continuing with a Peloton group session, but also adding another element to our annual event this year. Due to a high volume of our donor's from last year not participating in the cycle ride, we are adding a raffle with great prizes, 100% of proceeds will go to the NEC Soceity. That said, bragging rights will still be very much at stake for the Peloton ride! The ride will take place on June 11th at 12:00 pm, two days before we lost Liv almost three years ago. Please add the #LivlifetotheMax tag to your Peloton profile and join Ally Love's 30 min feel good ride.

A little more about our experience with NEC and the journey of losing our sweet Liv to this devastating disease:

April, May, and June 2020 - a time when most people were worried about how long covid would last and if they could safely go outside to get a little fresh air and exercise. Unfortunately, my wife and I had no choice but to expose ourselves as we fought for our daughter Liv's life in the NICU, after already losing her twin brother Max the day after delivery due to a different condition. 

We were in and out of a hospital for a grueling 49 days, one at at time because pandemic restrictions prevented us from seeing our daughter at the same time. On May 29th, 2020, our little girl was diagnosed with Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). After two surgeries, many discussions with doctors, and a valiant fight, we said goodbye to our sweet Liv on June 13th, 2020. 

Like many parents that have encountered this brutal disease with their children, we had heard little about NEC, but could only hope that we would not be stricken by the rare side of the statistics. We want to help the NEC Society to make sure that other parents don't fall on the unlikely side of the statistics and ultimately eradicate NEC altogether.
