I'm running the California International Marathon to raise funds and awareness for the NEC Society because:

Each year, more than 3,500 infants develop necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), a devastating intestinal disease affecting vulnerable infants during their first weeks and months of life. Tragically, up to 25% of these babies die from the disease. 

Despite NEC causing 1 in 10 deaths in NICUs across the country, relatively little progress has been made in understanding, preventing, and treating the disease.

The NEC Society (www.necsociety.org) is the world's leading organization advancing vital research, awareness, and advocacy to prevent families from experiencing the tragedy of NEC. All donations are tax-deductible.
